Black Galaxies Head Coach Annor Walker has named Accra Hearts of Oak midfielder Gladson Awako as the substantive skipper of the team ahead of the CHAN qualifiers.
The former TP Mezembe star will be assisted by Medeama’s Vincent Atingah as 1st Vice Captain and Asante Kotoko’ Imoro Ibrahim as 2nd Vice Captain.
“Earlier today we appointed Gladson Awako as Captain and he will be assisted by Vincent Atingah and Imoro Ibrahim ” Coach Walker said in an interview with GFA Communications.
“I urge all players to give them the necessary support to help us achieve success in our upcoming qualifiers” he added.
The local Black Stars are scheduled to face Benin in the preliminary stage of the qualifiers in search of a ticket to the biennial competition to be hosted by Algeria in January 2023.
Ghana have failed to qualify for the tournament in the last three editions since 2014.
The first leg of the CHAN qualifiers on July 24 at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
Coach Walker has announced a twenty-five (25) man squad as the Galaxies pitch camp in the Central Region.
Ghana are two-time silver medalist after reaching the final in the maiden edition in 2009 and in 2014.
