Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry and Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, Michael Okyere Baafi, says Ghana is ready to double its trade volume with Turkey which currently stands at USD $500 million dollars at the end of 2020.
Speaking during the Ministerial meeting at the 3rd Turkey Africa economic and business forum which is underway in Istanbul, Turkey, Deputy Trade and Industry Minister, says Ghana’s current economic outlook and investment climate has deliberately been instituted by government to ensure that investors and their investments are protected.
“Ghana is ready to host turkey businesses. Ghana is a friendly country and a very viable place for business. We hope Turkish businesses will be interested to come and settle in Ghana in the areas of Agribusiness, infrastructure development, health care, industrial park development and other key sectors” Michael Okyere Baafi said.
Forum Participation
Ghana is among some 45 African countries participating in 3rd edition of Turkey – Africa Economic Forum which begun in the Turkish capital, Istanbul today, 21st and ends tomorrow 22nd October 2021.
Some African leaders, heads of governments, officials of the AfCFTA, as well as Trade and Industry Ministers are participating in the two day event .
Set Targets
The Forum is mainly aimed at promoting Turkish and Africa investments by analyzing trade and economic relations between Africa and Turkey.
It is also aimed at highlighting the Expectations engendered by Agenda 2063 as a program for social, economic and political transformation that will make Africa a prosperous, united and economically independent Continent.
According to official communication from the Turkish government, the four main objectives the Forum aims to achieve at the end of the two-day engagement are first, raising the awareness of Turkish/Africa business circles about the investment and business opportunities in Africa and Turkey.
Second, raising awareness on the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) and its reflections for public and private sector.
Third, identifying possible future directions for Turkey-Africa partnership within the trade, investments, technology and logistics nexus and lastly, channeling private sector of Turkey and of African countries towards commercial, industrial and technological partnerships.
The will as see to increasing interaction among the business communities of Turkey and Africa as well as pursue the strengthening dialogue platform with the African Regional Economic Communities.
