A Former Advisory Counsel Chairman of the Project Management Institute of Ghana, Moses Tetteh, is advocating for the establishment of an Independent Project Management Board to evaluate and monitor the quality of projects in the country.
According to him, the lack of such a body is responsible for the poor quality of work on roads and school projects in the country.
Mr.Tetteh who has practiced Project Management for more than a decade said the establishment of an Independent Project Management Board is very critical in the development of the country.
“It is very important then to have a body that manages projects. An independent body that can tell the government the truth that this bridge cost ₡4.5 million instead of the 1.5 million they said they were going to spend. We need bodies like that”.
Mr Tetteh added that if the country is unable to get a body like an Independent Project Management Bored, the country will be found wanting in its financial sectors.
“We don’t know what we are actually doing. Now we have NI. How much did it cost, how much did they say they were going to spend. We don’t have all those figures.” he said.
He noted that the Independent Project Management Body that can evaluate projects and score them is very important for the country because the country has resources that can be wasted if not properly handled.
Mr. Tetteh further called on the government to give attention to these areas.
