Passport

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has extended the validity of ordinary Ghanaian passport booklets from five to 10 years. The extension takes effect from Sunday, March 31, 2019.

This was contained in a letter signed by the Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, Mohammed Habibu Tijani and addressed to Ghanaian Missions abroad. The decision to extend the validity of the passport follows appeals to the government by citizens to reduce the hustle of renewing the passports every five years.

The statement however stated that the processing fees remain the same until further notice. The decision has been welcomed by many with social media replete with commendations to the government.

Below is the letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
