Ghana has confirmed two imported cases of Coronavirus, Thursday, March 12, 2020.
This was announced by the Health Minister Kwaku Agyemang Manu at an emergency press conference held Thursday evening.
According to him, the two cases confirmed by the Noguchi Medical Research Institute were imported cases from Norway and Turkey.
He did not state which nationalities the two are from.
He said the two have since been quarantined whilst contact tracing has begun in earnest.
“Both patients are currently being kept in isolation and are stable,” the minister said
Kwaku Agyemang Manu assured the situation will be contained, and charged citizens to take self precautionary measures to avoid contracting the virus.
The announcement comes a day after the president, Nana Akufo-Addo announced a $100million budget to fight and contain the spread of the virus, if a case is confirmed in Ghana.
So far, there have been 126,726 confirmed cases across the globe with 4,629 fatalities. A total 67,995 have recovered with a total of 115 countries affected.
