The Ghana Football Association has extended an invitation to Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Ashantigold SC, Albert Commey to assist with investigations over his match fixing claims.
The invitation follows Mr. Commey’s comment made on Space FM alleging that some Ghana Premier League Clubs are involved in match manipulation and bet syndicates.
“GPL was competitive but wasn’t happy with final day because there were lots of fixed games. RTU never won any match away. AshGold v Bibiani Gold Stars was fixed. Wonders v Aduana was fixed. King Faisal vs Legon Cities was fixed.”
“Normally when it gets to that time, clubs want to survive. FA doesn’t know about it. How do you think Hearts of Oak will lose by 4 goals. Did you watch them yesterday? We shouldn’t be hypocrites or we won’t progress. I’m a Hearts fan, I’m telling you” the former Aduana Stars Director said.
The GFA in a statement released on Tuesday, said that all cases of match manipulation and betting are contrary to the provisions of the GFA Code of Ethics 2019, GFA Premier League Regulations 2019 and the GFA Disciplinary Code 2019. Hence, the need to invite the Deputy CEO of the Miners for further investigations.
Albert Commey Aryeetey is scheduled to meet the GFA on Friday July 9,2022.
The GFA in their bid to eradicate such canker recently demoted Obuasi Asantigold and Inter-Allies to second tier league after both Clubs were found guilty of match manipulation in their 2020/21 matchweek 34 GPL game last season.
Several players of both sides were found guilty by the GFA’s Disciplinary Committee and served with various bans and suspensions.
