The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has resolved to grant Accra Hearts of Oak access to the GHc100,000 participation fee earmarked for the team that represents Ghana in the CAF Confederation Cup via the MTN FA Cup
The Phobians won a double last season by winning the Ghana Premier League and the MTN FA Cup as they beat AshantiGold to win their first double in 21 years.
The Phobians left it late to beat Kamsar in Accra in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League. However, the Rainbow club are out of the Caf Champions League following an embarrassing 6-1 away defeat to Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca.
This means the Ghanaians got kicked out of the competition on a 6-2 aggregate score, thus, failing to make the group stage of the competition.
It will be recalled that as part of the sponsorship package for the MTN FA Cup, winner of the competition has access to a sum of GHc100,000 cash to prepare towards participating in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Executive Council has resolved to release this financial package to Accra Hearts of Oak who were the Champions of the MTN FA Cup especially at this stage when the team is automatically participating in the CAF Confederation Cup.
