Black Stars

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has named Milovan Rajevac as the Black stars head coach.

The unveiling of the Serbian coach took place at the GFA Secretariat in Accra, Friday.

Ghana was on the search for a new coach following the dismissal of CK Akonnor earlier this month after a 1-0 loss to South Africa on matchday two of the Group G FIFA World cup qualifying series.

Rajevac has already had a coaching spell with Ghana, having led the nation to the final of the 2009 African Nations Championship, the final of the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations and the quarter-final of the 2010 World Cup.

He will be assisted by Otto Addo who will combine this with the assistant coaching role at Dortmund, and Maxwell Konadu.

Richard Kingson has also been reappointed as the new goalkeepers’ trainer.

“Coaching is a very key part of the football ecosystem and the GFA Executive Council takes coaching very seriously,” GFA President, Kurt Okraku said.

“The new technical team will have a head coach with two assistants. Both assistants are Ghanaian.”

The 67-year-old, has been handed a one-year deal with an option for a further year if he qualifies the Black Stars to the World Cup. He will earn $30,000 every month.

Coach Milo’s first game is a World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe in Cape Coast on October 9.
