The restoration of Ghana’s environment, which has been badly damaged by illegal mining, also referred to as Galamsey, should be the country’s top priority, according to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The Asantehene emphasized the significance of resolving the galamsey issue through all available means in his speech on the occasion of his 25th anniversary of ascension as the 16th occupant of the Golden Stool.

He emphasized that the current generation shouldn’t be the one to destroy the legacy that their forefathers left behind.

The Asantehene demanded that the battle against Galamsey be waged with determination.

“Our top priority must be the reclamation of our environment from the ravages of Galamsey. We cannot be the generation that destroys the most gracious heritage bequeathed to us by our forefathers to satisfy the greed of a few miscreants. For whatever it takes we must defeat this scourge,” the Ashanti Kingdom King declared.

Asantehene also emphasized the necessity for Ghanaians to expand the nation’s economy and urged the country’s entrepreneurs to be strengthened.

As Ghana prepares for the December 2024 polls, he also exhorts the populace to abstain from anything that might sabotage the electoral process.
