The Circuit Court at Tokor has remanded four employees of Somé Senior High School in the Ketu South Municipality into police detention.
In response to accusations of theft made against them, the four entered a not guilty plea. On Monday, May 27, the Bursar, the Matron, the Assistant Headmistress in charge of Academics, and the storekeeper were all charged with stealing food products intended for students.
Since then, the Matron, the Storekeeper, and the Bursar have all been suspended by the Ghana Education Service, which has also formed a committee to look into the situation within the next two weeks.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has suspended the officials, Alex Obuadi (storekeeper), Yorm Dzikumu (matrons), and Richard Ametorxe (bursar), effective immediately.
A search carried out by the assembly member and a few alumni on Friday, May 24, while the bursar and matron were leaving the institution, served as the impetus for the investigation.
Among the things the Matron had in her hands were cleaning supplies, pesticide spray, mackerel, and tin tomatoes, among other food items.
