Five Policemen interdicted for allegedly assaulting and planting ‘weed’ on driver at Asamankese

The Ghana Police Service says its Service has interdicted five Officers at Asamankese in the Eastern Region.

The culprits are alleged to to have extorted money from a driver, allegedly assaulted him, and planted Indian Hemp on him.

The action from the Police follows a viral video involving a half naked man identified as Tamimu invoking curses on the police officers for allegedly extorting Ghc500 from him after planting marijuana in his car.

According to the victim,” on January 2, 2022, he was driving a DV plated Toyota Corolla saloon car belonging to his friend one Nketiah Frank from Anum Apapam to Asamankese to buy a car tyre for his private vehicle between 4:00pm to 5:00pm. On reaching sukruntu, Community section of the road close to Asamankese, he met a five-man Police patrol team on board a white service pick -up vehicle with registration number GP 2517”.

The Patrol team stopped and searched his car.

He said one of the Police officers said he found a wrap of suspected Indian hemp on the back seat of the car which Tamimu believes was planted by the police officers.
