With a convincing 5-0 victory over Southampton, Leicester City moved one step closer to a Premier League return thanks to a standout performance from Fatawu Isshaku.
At the King Power Stadium, Leicester won handily thanks to goals from Wilfried Ndidi, Jamie Vardy, and the Ghanaian winger, who scored a hat-trick.
The game-winning play came in the 25th minute when Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall squarely set up Fatawu, who slotted the ball past Alex McCarthy with ease. The goal stood despite Southampton’s protests that there may have been a foul and offside during the build-up.
Leicester kept up their dominance after the half. Shortly after the hour, Ndidi headed in a cross from Stephy Mavididi to widen their lead.
For his second goal, Fatawu then showed off his talent with a spectacular strike from outside the box.
The fourth goal for Leicester was set up by the Ghanaian winger, who found Vardy with a low cross that the striker finished at the near post.
After a quick counterattack, Vardy’s cross was finished by Fatawu, who capped off his hat-trick in style.
The 20-year-old Fatawu, who is currently on loan from Sporting Lisbon, has contributed 12 assists and six goals to his season’s Championship total. After their victory, Leicester is now only one win away from promotion, which they hope to achieve against Preston on Monday night.
