Ethiopian airlines have disclosed that it is currently undertaking various technical and operational training to help in the operations of the new home base carrier for Ghana.
The Area Manager for Ethiopian airlines in Ghana, Janet Micheal said the company is working to meet the various timelines set for the airlines to start operations as scheduled.
The government settled on Ethiopian airlines which carries about 49% stake in the new national carrier after a thorough search for a partner last year.
The move is expected to improve Ghana’s position in the industry and to ensure that the objective of Ghana becoming an aviation hub in West Africa is within reach.
Speaking to Accra based Citi FM, she said the they have already finalised the agreement on the establishment of Ghana National Career in partnership with Ethiopian airlines.
“So, having such a training facility will be a good opportunity for the new national carrier and to have enough power in the aviation industry” she said.
Madam Micheal added that they are doing all the aviation sector training including marketing, piloting, technicians and many other aviation training.
“So when ever there is a demand in Ghana, since we are doing the training it will be easier for people to get the opportunity to join the new national carrier” she noted.
