The Energy Commission has banned the importation of 19 second hand Electrical appliances to ensure the judicious use of energy in the country.
This follows ACT 541 of Parliament to pass 19 (nineteen) laws to regulate the markets for electrical appliances and renewable energy products.
According to a press statement from the Energy Commission dated on Tuesday, the move is to prevent Ghana; noted for second hand patronage to protect the consumer from purchasing unsuitable appliances an the payment of unnecessarily high electric bills.
The second hand business is very lucrative since it has both the low- and middle-income earners patronizing and serves as an employment avenue.
However, the Energy Commission debunked the assertion explaining that the dangers it poses in the country surpasses its demerits.
