The self-acclaimed Global Ambassador for the United Nations (UN), Kwame Fordjour, popularly known as Dr UN, has reportedly been arrested.

He was arrested on the premises of Kumasi-based Hello-FM, Friday by National Security operatives.

It is not too clear yet why he was arrested. However, the arrest may be linked to a possible case of fraud in which Dr UN gave out awards to celebrities, diplomats, politicians across the divide, religious leaders in the name of the Kofi Annan Foundation.

According to reports, Dr. UN was palpably angry with the arrest and initially demanded to see the warrant before yielding to the security operatives.

He has been remanded by the Asokore Mampong Magistrate Court which issued a bench warrant for his arrest six months ago.

Video footages sighted by Cedidollar.com show DR UN in police custody being mobbed by some of the inmates.

He looked almost animated swapping broad smiles to the chanting inmates.

It remains to be seen what charges have been levelled against him and when prosecution will begin.
