Dillian Whyte

Dillian Whyte has called for a fight with Deontay Wilder to happen next.

The top heavyweight contender recently reignited his world title ambitions by knocking out Alexander Povetkin in their rematch in Gibraltar.

He wants a title shot, but champions Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury appear out of reach.

They have signed contracts to meet in an undisputed clash this summer.

Therefore, a thrilling clash with former champion Wilder is the next best option.

Whyte called him out on Instagram this weekend, saying: “I want to punish Deontay Wilder.

“The coward is full of fear. Come see me fraud clown.”

The Brit campaigned for a title shot against the American for several years and became his mandatory in 2019.

However, Wilder then lost his belt to Fury and Whyte lost the mandatory status after initially being beaten by Povetkin.

The ‘Bronze Bomber’ still does not have a return fight scheduled and it’s rumoured he’s waiting on results of arbitration as he’s still trying to force a third fight with Fury.

The ‘Gypsy King’s’ camp are confident Wilder will not get his desired outcome.

Prior to the rematch win over Povetkin, Whyte told talkSPORT Fight Night: “I could fight Deontay Wilder now, regardless.

“I don’t need to beat Povetkin to fight Deontay Wilder.

“The only thing Deontay Wilder held was the heavyweight championship of the world.

“He wasn’t a big draw, he wasn’t a big ticket-seller. He wasn’t even selling out arenas in America and he’s American.

“So he wasn’t a big draw, he just had the belt and he’s lost the belt, so he’s got nothing now.”
