Akufo-Addo

The Aspiring National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Stephen Asamoah Boateng, popularly known as ‘Asabee,’ has defended the government’s swift response to critics.

According to Mr Asamoah Boateng, the government is not intolerant of the views of the public. However, “it is just that we respond quicker.”

His remark came in response to a question about whether the government is more intolerant than previous administrations.

Speaking in an interview on JoyNews’ The Probe on Sunday, he explained that the quick response is due to recent system changes and the use of new media.

“With social media things move faster. In our time, we did not have a lot of social media and mobile phones were not a lot in the system .. I think people are much more aware that there is a lot of give and take so they think by responding we are attacking them; no we are not,” he told Emefa Apawu.

He urged both government critics and spokespersons to remain calm and analyze situations in order to maintain the peace being enjoyed in the country.

He went on to say that the media is not always supposed to engage the parties involved because “we will never finish.”
