The Kwahu Traditional Council has advised its natives living in other parts of the country not to return to the town until further notice following the upsurge in cases of the novel coronavirus in the country.
“All natives of Kwahu who currently live outside Kwahu should endeavour to continue to stay wherever they may be in the weeks to come and postpone all planned visits to Kwahu till further notice,” a statement from the Traditional Council advised.
The Traditional Council also urged those already residing in Kwahu not to travel to other parts of the country until “the pandemic is contained.”
“There is a large population of the aged in Kwahu and they are vulnerable. Therefore let us act responsibly since an outbreak will be devastating…Daasebre loves and cherishes all of his citizens and passionately appeals to them to strictly adhere to these aforementioned suggestions,” the statement signed by Registrar at the Kwahu Traditional Council, Samuel Tuffour, added.
132 cases of the coronavirus disease have been recorded in the Ashanti and Greater Accra Regions.
Three patients who also tested positive to the disease have died.
A majority of the cases were detected in some Ghanaians who returned into the country recently after visiting some Coronavirus-hit countries.
A section of the public and some institutions including the Ghana Medical Association, Trades Union Congress and the Bureau of Public Safety have all called for a partial or total lockdown of the country to curb the spread of the virus.

Meanwhile, President Nana Akufo-Addo has said the government is holding extensive consultations on the possible measures aimed at curbing the spread of the Coronavirus disease in Ghana.
Nana Akufo-Addo said though a lockdown remains an option, extensive consultations will be made to ensure that the government takes the right decision.
Speaking at a meeting with the leadership of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) at the Jubilee House on Wednesday, Nana Akufo-Addo said the government will consider all factors before a lockdown is announced.
“People in Ghana are now talking about a lockdown. Majority of people who will be affected by decisions of that nature are the working people of our country. The ordinary people of Ghana. They are the ones who will be affected and it is important for us to take into account the circumstances and conditions. When we lock down Accra, what are the consequences? A responsible government is required to look at all the implications before decisions are made. And that is the exercise we are currently engaged in and I am hoping that much sooner than later we will come to an agreement on what those measures are and the Ghanaian people will be informed,” the President said.
