CK Akonnor names 32 locally-based players for AFCON 2021 Qualifiers

Head coach of the Black Stars of Ghana, Charles Kwablan Akonnor has invited 32 home-based squad to begin preparation for next month’s Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers double header against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe.

According to Coach Akonnor, these selected players are the best in the country and have equal chances of representing the country at the highest level. The Black Stars are tied on 9 points at the top of the standings in Group C after four matches with two games left.

Foreign-based players are expected to join the team for the two qualifiers as the squad will be trimmed down. Players are to report to the M Plaza Hotel in Accra on Monday, February 15, 2021, before departing for the training camp.

The following are the players selected by C.K Akonnor:

Goalkeepers: Joseph Addo (Aduana Stars), Razak Abalora (Asante Kotoko), Bawa Lord Martey (Elmina Sharks), Eric Ofori Antwi (Medeama SC)
