The Black Meteors of Ghana are in a driving seat ahead of their leg 2 clash against Mozambique thanks to a 2-1 away win in Maputo.
Hearts of Oak star Afriyie Barnieh’s brace from the spot gave the Black Meteors a vital 2-1 win over Mozambique in Maputo.
The home side however pulled one back after the Ghanaian defense failed to clear a rebound.
The win puts Ghana on a strong footing ahead of the return leg which will be played at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, October 30, 2022.
The winner of the two legs will progress to the next round of the qualifiers as search for a ticket to the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco intensifies.
The Black Meteors failed to qualify for Beijing 2008 and even though they were at the 2011 All-Africa Games, the Ghana Olympic football team failed to qualify for the 2011 CAF U-23 Championship, thus did not participate in London 2012.
