Ghana’s U23 lads bagged a spot at the the final stage of the TotalEnergies CAF U23 Championship qualifiers following a deserved 2-0 win over Mozambique at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
Coach Tanko’s lads will face DR Congo in the final round of qualifiers after a 4-1 aggregate win over Mozambique.
Sylvester Simba opened the scoring for the Black Meteors on Sunday before Afriyie Barnieh converted from the penalty spot to double the lead.
Ghana will travel away for the first leg before hosting the Congolese side in the return leg.
The winner of the two legs will progress to the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The Black Meteors failed to qualify for Beijing 2008 and even though they were at the 2011 All-Africa Games, the Ghana Olympic football team failed to qualify for the 2011 CAF U-23 Championship, thus did not participate in London 2012.
