Black Stars Head coach C.K Akonnor has expressed satisfaction to his side’s 1-1 draw against South Africa in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.
In a post match interview, Akonnor expressed satisfaction with his teams tactics and results saying; “Going into the game we knew what was expected of us.” Akonnor said.
“We knew the strength of the South African team and how they would play and attack, so we were well prepared to play without the ball.
“Team organization was key for us, we came with the idea that if we could leave with a draw, we would be fine, we didn’t need to lose and we were able to achieve that.”
The Black Stars qualified to the Total Africa Cup of Nations, Cameroon 2021 after holding their hosts South Africa to 1-1 draw in Johannesburg on Thursday following goals from Mohammed Kudus and Percy Tau.
Ghana raised their tally to 10 points, same as South Africa but led the Bafana Bafana on head-to-head rule. Sudan comes third with 9 points while Sao Tome and Principe are out of the race with no point.
South Africa need a draw in their last Group C game against Sudan to book a slot in the 2021 afcon.
