Rock City Hotel owner and Minister for Food and Agriculture Bryan Acheampong has strongly refuted reports that his establishment is losing money, referring to the allegations as a “pure ungodly lie.”
In an earlier statement, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, had implied that the Rock City Hotel was not in a position to purchase the sixty percent stake in the Social Security and National Insurance Trust in four hotels, and that it was performing poorly financially.
Ablakwa claimed to have records from the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) that showed Rock City’s financial difficulties.
Bryan Acheampong, however, disputed these assertions, casting doubt on Ablakwa’s intentions as well as the veracity of the documents.
The Abetifi MP immediately addressed the charges in an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Eyewitness News on Citi FM on Wednesday, saying, “None of what the man was saying is true.” Not even one.
“Indeed Rock City has not even filed their annual returns with GRA they tell me. They have not been to GRA, they don’t have any records at GRA for anybody to even intercept.”
“But if you look at the presentation of the main protagonist in this matter as though he has intercepted documents and I put it to him today that they are all lies. They are lies, lies and fabrications.
“It is beyond propaganda. Pure ungodly lies and I don’t think an honourable member should do that…this is not right.”
