The introduction of a one percent cybersecurity levy on all banking transactions has been refuted by the Bank of Ghana (BoG).

These claims first appeared on social media in response to news that the Central Bank intended to levy a one percent cybersecurity fee on all bank transactions in response to growing domestic and global cybersecurity threats.

The BoG denied these reports as untrue in a post on Tuesday.

The public was further advised by the Central Bank to disregard such reports.
