Black Leopards agree deal to name Maxwell Konadu as new head coach

Black Leopards, a second-tier team in South Africa, have announced that they and former Ghana assistant coach Maxwell Konadu have agreed to a three-year contract.

Tshifhiwa Thidiela, the club’s chairman, announced the information on Tuesday as they work to get back into the top division in South Africa.

Within the next week, the 51-year-old is scheduled to take a plane to South Africa to finalize the required paperwork and sign a deal with Black Leopards.

With extensive experience coaching clubs and national teams in Ghana, Maxwell Konadu most recently served as the coach of Nsoatreman FC, where he won the MTN FA Cup a little more than a week ago.

“It’s true we can confirm that we’ve reached an agreement with one Maxwell Konadu,” Thidiela told reporters.

“He’s a Ghana national. I think he was also playing for the Ghanaian national team.

“He was coaching currently in Ghana Premier League. He just recently completed the Ghana FA Cup there. MTN FA Cup. He won it.

“The team he was with finish fourth. He’s 51 years old, and he’ll be here for, to reach an agreement for him to be here for three seasons.”
