Emmanuel Annor scored in the second half to rescue a point for Bechem United in a 1-1 draw against Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park – to extend their unbeaten run to ten games.
Berekum Chelsea opened the scoring in the 32nd minute through experienced marksman Kofi Owusu who had all the time in the world to turn and dribble pass the Bechem United defence before slotting home. The striker – a former top scorer of the Premier League on hand to control a long throw-in from Henry Ainsu as he drifted in from right to left before firing home the opening goal of the match.
Brekum Chelsea created a number of decent chances in search of the second goal but goalkeeper Abdullai Iddrisu denied them.
Bechem United star man, Augustine Okrah who has scored 8 times this season shot wide after he was put through on goal by Clinton Duodu.
Berekum Chelsea finally took the lead on the 32nd minute as Kofi Owusu fired home from inside the box. The visitors reacted very well after going down but couldn’t break the Chelsea defense as the former Champions went into the break with a 1-0 cushioning.
Back from recess, Berekum Chelsea again forced Abdullai Iddrisu to a great save following a powerful free kick from defender Henry Ainsu.
Chances were far and few in the second half until Emmanuel Annor found the back of the net in the 75th minute to draw Bechem United level. The attacker soared above players of Berekum Chelsea before directing a delicious pass from Augustine Okrah into the bottom corner for the equalizer.
Chelsea committed players forward in search of a winning goal but the Hunters kept their back shut until the final whistle.
The result keeps Bechem United in the second place with 29 points while Chelsea sits in 9th place with 21 points – 12 points behind leaders Asante Kotoko.
