Four political parties are vying for the opportunity to serve the people of the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency in a by-election to replace the deceased Member of Parliament (MP) for that constituency, Mr Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko.
The candidates contesting in the election are the New Patriotic Party’s Ms Lydia Seyram Alhassan; Mr. Kwasi Delali Brempong of the National Democratic Congress (NDC); Mr. William Kofi Dowokpor of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) and the Liberal Party of Ghana’s Clement Boadi.
All the candidates have been backed by the bigwigs of their respective parties in aggressive door-to-door campaigns to capture the seat and present a strong message to the Ghanaian electorate ahead of the 2020 general election.
The Constituency was won by Francis Napoleon K. Kumah of the National Convention Party in 1992 after the country returned to multiparty democracy. Below is a tabular history of the Ayawaso West Wuogon since 1996.
