With the recent construction of two detour roads, Asante Gold Corporation has reported that the Bibiani-Goaso Highway has been diverted, enabling the continued development of the underground and open pit at the Bibiani Gold Mine.
As outlined in the 2024 Bibiani Technical Report this significant step furthers the company’s plans to increase gold production at Bibiani to more than 250,000 ounces per year, with a cumulative production of 1.2 million ounces of gold anticipated over the next five years, at lower all-in sustaining costs (“AISC”).
The Company will be able to access about 170,000 ounces of contained gold from the Main Pit in the upcoming 12 months thanks to the rerouting of the highway, which also supports plans to process 250,000 ounces starting in the fiscal year 2026. Higher gold recovery is possible while the Sulphide Recovery Plant is being erected because of the oxide mineralization that is present near the surface in the southern part of the main pit.
Within eight months, production might rise to over 20,000 ounces per month with the highway’s rerouting. Longer term, it facilitates the company’s intentions to investigate and prolong mine life at Bibiani well into the ensuing 10 years.
After two detour roads were successfully planned, designed, and built, the Bibiani-Goaso Highway could be rerouted. This is a significant achievement for Asante and gives commuters easier access. Key stakeholders, including the Ghana Highway Authority, the Department of Feeder Roads, the Regional Ministry, traditional authorities, local community committees, the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipal Assembly, transport organizations, local residents, and other stakeholders, had to be extensively consulted and supported during the planning of the two detour roads. Asante expresses gratitude to all Bibiani stakeholders for their positive involvement in the process.
Achieving this noteworthy milestone is essential to guaranteeing Bibiani’s continued long-term growth. All parties who had previously traveled the Bibiani-Goaso Highway may now reach farms, plantations, and communities safely and effectively thanks to the company’s two finished detour roads. For many years to come, Asante looks forward to cooperating in a mutually beneficial manner with its communities and stakeholders.
