Black Stars skipper, Andre Ayew claims there is no reason to panic after opening game defeat to Portugal in Group H.

Despite a spirited performance by the Black Stars in the second half; individual mistakes in a space of two minutes caused the Senior National team to collapse.

The Portuguese won a thrilling 3-2 at Stadium 974 in Doha on Thursday.

Cristiano Ronaldo got on the scoresheet following a controversial 65th minute penalty.

Black Stars skipper, Andre Ayew equalized after a Kudus pass across the goal in the 73rd-minute to put a smile on the faces of the Ghanaian spectators.

However, quick goals from Joao Felix and Rafael Leao put the Portuguese back in control.

Osman Bukari pulled one back for Ghana in the 89th minute.

The former Swansea City attacker urges his colleagues to up their game in subsequent Group H matches.

”Our game plan was really working well, we were solid. The penalty looks a little bit harsh. But I have a lot confidence in what I saw today” Ayew told the media after the game.

‘’We always come out of difficult situations. We need to stay calm, go home, relax and increase our performance. We need to try and score more and concede less,” he added.

The defeat leaves Ghana at the bottom of Group H after Uruguay and South Korea played out a goalless draw earlier on Thursday.

The Black Stars will hope to make amends when they face South Korea in a dicey clash on Monday.
