Ahead of the 2024 elections, independent presidential candidate Alan John Kyerematen has declared a strategic alliance with the National Interest Movement, which is headed by former Convention People’s Party (CPP) flagbearer Abu Sakara.

On Thursday, April 4, 2024, a statement announcing this partnership under the name “Alliance for Revolutionary Change (ARC)” was made public.

Mr. Kyerematen gave an overview of the Alliance’s goals in the statement. The Alliance is scheduled to formally launch on Wednesday, April 17.

The African Republican Congress (ARC) aims to unite Ghanaians from all walks of life, focusing especially on women and youth, in order to elect Ghana’s first independent candidate to the presidency.

The declaration stressed the necessity of ending the nation’s cycle of poverty and putting it on a new course for prosperity.

The Alliance aims to end the division in Ghanaian politics, the “Winner takes all” mentality, and the lack of continuity in government projects while highlighting the shortcomings of the two major political parties, the NDC and the NPP, and the fundamental problems of development in Ghana over the previous 32 years.

In order to work toward a National Development Plan that will direct Ghana’s economic transformation, ARC intends to form an inclusive Government of National Unity that represents all facets of society.
