According to President Akufo-Addo, the modifications made to the Ministry of Finance would not impact the conditions of the IMF agreement.
Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam took Ken Ofori-Atta’s position as Ghana’s longest-serving finance minister in the President’s most recent reshuffle.
President Akufo Addo stated during his state of the nation speech that the government remained committed to implementing the project in order to restore fiscal stability and economic growth, therefore this would not have an impact on the IMF programme.
“Mr Speaker, it is important to underline that the recent change in the leadership of the Finance Ministry will not affect the Government’s commitment to implementing the terms agreed with the IMF to ensure that we restore the economy to healthy growth as soon as possible.”
He continued by saying that the government will keep moving forward in that direction because, a few months after the program’s introduction, fiscal stability has begun to reappear.
The President further stated that as part of the IMF programme, the government would keep making sure that the weak and impoverished are protected.
