With immediate effect, 24 Municipal and District Chief Executives were sacked by President Nana Akufo Addo today.
The President stated that his decision complies with section 20 (3) (b) of the Local Government Act, 2014 (Act 936) and Article 243 (3) b of the Constitution in a letter dated Friday, February 2nd.
The President fired his twenty-four district chief executives for no apparent reason.
Certain sacked DCEs are in districts where the party does not even have sitting MPs, according to the President’s list.
In a separate letter dated Saturday, February 3, 2024, President Akufo-Addo also announced fresh nominations to take the positions that were created.
See list of dismissed DCEs.
