President Nana Akufo Addo has opened all land and sea borders after two years following a COVID-19 preventive measure.
The President’s announcement follows his 28th measures taken by the Government against the spread of Coronavirus on Sunday.
” As from tomorrow, Monday, 28th March, all land and sea borders will be opened. Fully vaccinated travellers will be allowed entry through the land and sea borders without a negative PCR test result from the country of origin. Citizens and foreign residents in Ghana, who are not fully vaccinated, will have to produce a negative 48-hour PCR test result, and will be offered vaccination on arrival” He said.
Background:
On Saturday, March 21, President Nana Akufo-Addo announced the closure of the country’s land, sea and air borders as part of measures to reduce the importation of the dreaded coronavirus disease.
The Minority Caucus in Parliament subsequently called on the government to open Ghana’s land borders to allow for the free movement of persons and goods.
However, Government argued that opening the borders would lead to the importation of COVID-19 cases.
