New judges

Three Justices of the Court of Appeal—Justice Henry Anthony Cofie, Justice Yaw Asare Darko, and Justice Richard Agyei Frimpong—have been nominated by President Nana Akufo Addo to fill vacancies on the Supreme Court bench.

The President says that the appointments are a result of the mandatory retirement of three Justices of the highest court earlier this year.

July 2022 was the most recent appointment to the Supreme Court bench.
Three justices of the Court of Appeal and one justice of the High Court were on the list at the time.

Justice Barbara Frances Ackah-Yensu, Justice George Kingsley Koomson, and Justice Samuel Kwame Adibu Asiedu were the Court of Appeal’s nominees.
The High Court only nominated Justice Ernest Yao Gaewu.

Parliament later examined and approved the four.
