Following the recent economic downturn, President Nana Akufo Addo promised on Tuesday that the government would continue to support Ghanaian manufacturing companies locally.
During a working visit to Blue Skies Company Limited in Doboro, near Nsawam, the President made this commitment.
The visit to Blue Skies Company Limited, a Ghanaian fruit processing company that has been in business for 25 years and employs 4,500 people, takes place in the midst of news that several local and foreign businesses are closing as a result of financial difficulties.
Hugh Pile, the CEO of the group, stressed the importance of government assistance in order to grow the company and solve issues facing the pineapple sector.
“We believe agriculture is the beating heart of our success but the pineapple industry in this country has faced real challenges. It has shrunk and shrunk and shrunk. So how can we find ways to support farmers to reengage with Pineapple.”
President Akufo-Addo praised the work being done at Blue Skies and assured the management of the government’s support after visiting the facility and speaking to the employees.
“I’m impressed with the work of the company,” the president said. There is hope for the future with people like you. I’ve told your superiors that the government will help the business.
