The President Akufo Addo on Tuesday in accordance with article 78 of the Constitution, has appointed the Deputy Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Lariba Zuweira Abudu as Minister-designate for Gender, Children and Social Protection.
The Member of Parliament for Walewale’s, appointment is subject to the approval of Parliament.
Akufo Addo has also nominated Francisca Oteng Mensah, Member of Parliament for Kwabre East, as Deputy Minister- designate for Gender, Children and Social Protection.
According to a press statement from the Presidency, the President is hopeful that Parliament will expedite the approval of his nominees for this important Ministry, so they can assist in the effective delivery of his mandate for his second term in office.
The new directive from the President comes after he revoked the appointment of Sarah Adwoa Safo as Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection.
The embattled Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya dismissal comes after her continues absence from Parliament without approval from the Speaker of Parliament and her Ministerial role as he Gender Minister.
The Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Madam Cecilia Abena Dapaah acted as caretaker Minister for the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection subsequently.
