The Koforidua Youth Resource Center, located in the Eastern Regional Capital of Koforidua, was officially opened by President Nana Akufo Addo on Thursday.
There are ten youth resource centers being built across the nation, including this one.
The President claims that the project is a realization of his pledges to the good people of Ghana to advance youth and sports everywhere.
The renovations, which were started in March 2018 by the former Sports Minister Isaac Asiamah, have included the installation of running tracks, a lawn tennis court, basketball and volleyball courts, and a 5,000-seat stand.
The building now has a press box, VIP area, ICT lab, restaurant, counseling rooms, and career centers.
In order to prepare for the 2024 athletic season, a contingent of the Ghana Athletics Association from Accra, Kumasi, Tamale, and Wa was assembled to participate in a variety of sporting disciplines.
With uncontrollable happiness, Akufo Addo stated that the opening of the first of ten youth resource centers was evidence of his pledge to Ghanaians to promote sports and youth development.
In order to ensure the timely completion of these legacy projects, the President, who stated that he has prioritized the completion of the remaining facilities, ordered the Ministry of Finance and the various district assemblies to allot the necessary funds from the common funds to the National Youth Authority under ACT 939.
