Akufo Addo appoints new military chief

President Akufo-Addo, has appointed the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Seth Amoama, to act as Chief of Defence Staff.

Rear Admiral Amoama, replaces Lt. Gen Obed Akwa, who has completed his tour of duty and subsequently retired from the GAF.

A communique by Eugene Arhin, Acting Director of Communication at the presidency said the appointment will take effect from February 5, 2021, pending consultation with the yet-to-be-constituted Council of State.

The president has expressed his gratitude to Lt. Gen Obed Akwa, for his dedicated and meritorious service to the Ghana Armed Forces and to the nation, the communique said.

President Akufo-Addo has also appointed, with effect from Friday, February 5, 2021, Rear Admiral Issah Adams Yakubu to act as Chief of Naval Staff, also pending consultation with the yet-to-be-constituted Council of State.
