Akufo-Addo appoints 33 to represent Ghana as new Heads of mission

President Akufo – Addo in accordance with Article 74 (1) of the constitution has named 33 distinguished Ghanaians to head various diplomatic Ghanaian missions in the world pending consultation with the Council of State.

Notable among the 33 appointees include ex Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Hajia Alima Mahama who also served as the Member of Parliament for Nalerigu/Gambaga constituency and a member of the New Patriotic Party in the 7th Parliament of the 4th Republic.

The former Acting Director-General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation and past Ghana’s high commissioner to Kenya, Francisca Ashietey-Odunton has been assigned a new diplomatic role to Turkey.

President Akufo-Addo recently sworn in his first batch of Ministers to help him steer the affairs of the nation in his second term of office yesternight.

In all, he administered the oath of office, secrecy and allegiance to 28 out of the total number of 30 appointees.

With the exception of Finance Minister designate, Ken Ofori-Atta who is out of the country on medical grounds and yet to be vetted, the Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ebenezer Kojo Kum who had gone through and have been approved was also not present on grounds of ill health.
