President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has called on players and technical team members of the Black Queens at their camping base at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island-Nigeria.
The President was accompanied by leader of delegation, Habiba Attah Forson and two members of the Black Queens Management committee, Kingsley Osei Bonsu and Ama Brobey Williams.
The GFA entourage was received by the entire team reciting the National pledge in unison.
Addressing the playing body and technical team, the President said that the visit was to reassure them of the unflinching support of the GFA, Government and the football fraternity while admonishing them to give their all when given the opportunity to play.
“You remember I came to visit you at Prampram and promised to come back and visit again and I am happy God brought me here safely. Even though we know we are preparing for the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON), it’s so important to take every training serious” he said.
”I always advice my players that once you decide to play football, there is no child’s play when you get to the field. Because you don’t know who is watching at that time. There might be people around who are ready to offer you opportunities outside.
”When God permit and you line up for the first game remember Ghana first. We came to get glory for Ghana and for ourselves. The first game you watched today should give you clear idea of who our opponents are and what to expect. Give your best and listen to the technical team while show ultimate dedication in the national colors”. President Simeon-Okraku added.
Host Nigeria, Cameroon, South Africa, Mali, Ghana and Morocco are the six teams to battle for honours at the tournament being staged in honour of the country’s First Lady, Dr (Mrs) Aisha Muhammadu Buhari.
The tournament is meant to be an annual event to give the top Women’s national teams of Africa the chance of playing against each other in the off season to keep them active.
Ghana will take on South Africa in their first Group B game on Friday, September 17, 2021.
