Ghana is finally turning the corner economically, according to President Nana Akufo Addo, who made this announcement on Monday during his Christmas address to the country. This comes after three years of economic turmoil.
The President expressed his happiness that the nation has managed to overcome the challenges that the world—not just Ghana—has faced.
Citing controlled inflation, a comparatively stable exchange rate, and a resurgence in economic growth, he highlighted encouraging signs of economic recovery.
“Fellow Ghanaians, I am particularly happy that our nation has turned the corner following three difficult years we and indeed the world have faced. Inflation is being reined in, we are experiencing a relatively stable exchange rate and growth in our economy is rebounding.”
The ability of Ghana to draw in both foreign and domestic investment, underscoring its status as the gateway to Africa, was another point made by Akufo-Addo.
In addition, he highlighted Ghana’s steadfast dedication to democracy, peace, and stability, presenting the country as a lighthouse on the continent of Africa.
Ghana is headed toward a better future, the president said, giving assurance despite acknowledging that difficulties still exist.
He asked people to stay committed, overcome the remaining obstacles, and ensure that everyone has a prosperous future.
“We continue to attract investment – domestic and foreign – reinforcing our position as the gateway to Africa, and we remain a beacon of democracy, peace and stability in Africa. The country is not yet completely out of the woods but there is a growing sense of confidence that with hard work and determination, Ghana will make it and collectively we will secure our future.”
