Black Stars arrive in Garoua

After a review meeting between the Management and Technical Team, the Ghana Football Association reversed course and moved the Black Stars’ AFCON camp from Johannesburg, South Africa, to Kumasi.

The original plan was for the Black Stars to begin a ten-day training camp in South Africa on Sunday, December 31, 2023, in preparation for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.

The squad will now camp in Kumasi starting on Tuesday, January 2, 2023, as a result of the decision.

The FIFA has also canceled the team’s international friendly against Botswana, which was set to take place in Johannesburg on Monday, January 8, 2023. As part of the preparation for the Abidjan tournament, the FA says the team will soon announce their new opponent.

The Ghana Football Association also stated that the public and media will not be permitted access to the private training sessions.

Nonetheless, the team plans to host a meeting for the media.

The public is welcome to attend the friendly match, which will be followed by a press conference with the media.

The Black Stars are in Group B with Mozambique, Cape Verde, and Egypt.

Ghana will begin its campaign against Cape Verde. On Thursday, January 18, 2024, the team will play Egypt, the record holder, and on Monday, January 22, 2024, they will play Mozambique in the last Group B match.
