Mr. Yoofi Grant is the CEO of GIPC

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Center for (GIPC), Yofi Grant has allayed fears of Ghana becoming a dumping ground following the implementation of the African Continental  Free Trade Agreement.

Under this agreement, nations agreed to cut tariffs on 90% of goods with the aim of increasing Intra Africa Trade. Following this, concerns have been raised about more developed countries dumping their goods on lesser developed ones.

speaking to Joy Business News, MrGrant said they have laid rules under the agreement to check dumping and unfair practices.

” There are rules and regulations that are going to be at play. it doesn’t mean that because you are one man, you can just throw things across the border anyhow you want”

He said though the main aim is to increase total trade among Africans, the union is not going to allow citizens to throw their goods into other countries when they like.

Mr Grant added that according to the president, Ghana is going to be the best medium to do business in Africa in the medium term.

He noted that the reforms seen in the country today by the investment sector are meant to position the country as a hub for trading activities.

” we have laws, and this place is not just going to be an open forum where everybody can just come to do what they like” he said.
