Traders at the Abossey Okai spare parts enclave in Accra have reiterated the need for peaceful elections on December 7 to ensure the business environment remains stable.

The traders made this known, during a peace walk organized by the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association on Thursday, December 3rd, 2020.

Marching through the streets of Abossey Okay, the about 100 traders held up placards with inscriptions such as ‘Stand for Peace’, ‘Vote for Peace’ and ‘Abossey Okai for Peace’ among others.

Speaking to Citi Business News, Co-chairman of the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association, Clement Boateng, charged the leadership of the two main political parties to be mindful of the dangers to the country’s economic prospects if peace does not prevail before, during and after the elections.

“As we all know the business community makes up the movers and shakers of any economy. And so we want to appeal to the politicians to let peace prevail as Ghanaians go to the polls to elect their parliamentarians and president for the next 4 years. They should ensure that we have a free and fair election. This will ensure that we, the business community, continue to play our role in the recovery of the economy post-COVID-19.”
