MTN FA Cup: “My boys have had enough for the year” – Karim Zito on Dreams FC disappointing elimination

Abdul Karim Zito, head coach of Dreams FC, believes that after everything they have accomplished this season, his players merit a lengthy vacation.

This season, Zito has overseen a smaller group of players who have been required to compete in the MTN FA Cup, the CAF Confederation Cup, and the Ghana Premier League.

After extra time at WAFA Park on Sunday night, Zito’s team lost to Bofoakwa Tano, eliminating them from the MTN FA Cup.

The Still Believ lads lost to Zamalek in the semifinals, which indicates that their attempt to return to Africa was unsuccessful.

Speaking in a post-game reaction after his side’s loss to the Tano Bofoakwa in the MTN FA Cup, the gaffer said, “I have achieved seriously because sometimes when you defend your title you must be out before [this stage]. I combine three [competitions], playing at the same time and with these same players. Now injuries have affected me seriously but that is no excuse. That is why I said we did our best.”

“Where we went out in the CAF Confederation, to me, we did better. For a longer period, we had not had a small team like Dreams FC to reach that stage. You come to the FA Cup and we are out in the semifinals, it’s one of those things in football.

“My boys have had enough for the year. We will do our best to maintain ourselves in the league and then we will take a long break or else we will break down.”

On Wednesday, May 15, at 15:00 GMT, the Dawu based Club will play their next game against Bechem United. With four games remaining, Dreams are currently ranked 15th out of 18 teams in the league standings.
