Nsoatreman FC advanced to an exciting final by sending Legon Cities reeling from the MTN FA Cup with a 2-1 victory in the opening semi-final on Saturday.
Afetorgbor Foster and Eric Osei Bonsu each scored twice in the first half to give the Nsoatre-based team enough momentum to advance to their first-ever final.
Coach Maxwell Konadu orchestrated the triumph over his previous team.
The stronger team, Nsoatreman, was more economical in front of goal. Afetorgbor Foster, 16, was not afraid to take risks after he opened the score with a strong drive in the 35th minute.
On a wet pitch at WAFA Park in Sogakope, goalie Joseph Kumah of Legon Cities was unable to hold onto the ball as it slipped through his fingers.
Three minutes later, Eric Osei Bonsu beat his marker and scored a thunderbolt inside the box to give Nsoatreman their second goal.
Legon Cities’ William Kweku Adjei made a comeback in the 58th minute.
Nsoatreman FC demonstrated their mastery of the ball right away, winning to earn a spot in the championship.
Nsoatreman will face Bofoakwa Tano at the WAFA Park on Sunday, May 12, in the final clash of the 2023–24 MTN FA Cup.
