Aboubakar Ouattara

Head coach of Hearts of Oak, Aboubakar Ouattara, claims that a “mental” issue was the cause of the team’s recent struggles in the Ghana Premier League.

Prior to taking on Berekum Chelsea on the road on matchday 25 of Ghana’s premier league on Wednesday afternoon, the Phobians had dropped five of their previous six games.

But to snap a two-game losing streak, Ouattara’s team produced one of their best games of the year, defeating the Birebes 0-3 in a convincing victory.

The Rainbow lads team’s three-point victory was secured by goals from Hamza Issah, Linda Mtange, and Kassim Cisse.

Speaking in a post match reaction, the Ivorian coach, in his post-match said: “I expected to win. It’s football; we can win by 1-0, 2-0, 3-0, but we needed the points.”

“I told you we had a mental problem. We have some people who want to pollute the minds of the boys…it was a psychological problem.”

Hearts are now two points behind Kotoko, who are ranked tenth in the league, having secured all three points at Golden City Park.

On May 17, Hearts will play their next league matchup against Aduana FC.
