Accra Hearts of Oak Board Chairman, Togbe Afede XIV has disclosed the sizeable investment that went into creating the team’s new secretariat.
Asogli Chief reports that Rainbow Club is almost done with its large-scale Pobiman Project, which should be finished by year’s end.
Togbe Afede revealed that about GHS 9 million has been allocated to the project, which is 95% finished, during his remarks at the 6th Annual General Meeting on Thursday at the Civil Service Auditorium.
Interestingly, part of the complex will be leased out to bring in more money for the club.
“This structure is nearly finished, with about GHS 9 million invested so far,” he announced. “Part of this state-of-the-art facility will be leased out to bolster revenue streams.”
After the club’s previous secretariat, “Phobia House,” was demolished in May 2022, work on the project began with the goal of giving Hearts of Oak a contemporary headquarters and operational base.
A number of amenities, including staff housing, senior housing units, training centers, gymnasiums, swimming pools, locker rooms, restrooms, kitchens, and dining halls, are planned for the ultra-modern building.
Vincent Sowah-Odotei and Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe, who kept their posts on the board, are among the nine new board members that the Phobians have appointed. Ivy Heward Mills is one of the former directors who is still in place in the new configuration.
While prominent figures like Professor Agyemang Badu Akosa, a former flagbearer candidate for the Convention People’s Party, and Ken Ashigbey, the Chief Executive of the Telecommunications Chamber and a former director, have joined the new board, Alhaji Braimah Moro Akanbi was not renominated.
Adding even more fresh perspective to the board is Chief Executive Officer Akwasi Agyemang of the Ghana Tourism Authority. Agyemang offers significant experience in football governance from his roles as a member of the Fundraising Committee for Ghana’s 2022 World Cup campaign and as a board member of the Division One League.
It has also been confirmed that Samuel Wilfred Yaw Inkoom, a chartered accountant and chartered tax practitioner, will be joining the board.
These seven people will join managing director Delali Anku-Adiamah and majority shareholder Togbei Afede XIV, who were previously named the club’s new directors in February.
