Since the party opened nominations on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, nine people, including former GFA President Kwesi Nyantikyi, have so far picked up forms to compete in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primary for the Ejisu constituency.
Following the passing of the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ejisu and Deputy Finance Minister, John Ampontuah Kumah, the NPP has set the date for the election of a Parliamentary Candidate for the constituency for Saturday, April 13, 2024.
In a statement, the party’s general secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, stated that potential candidates for parliament could purchase and turn in their nomination forms at the constituency party office between Tuesday, April 2, and Thursday, April 4, 2024.
As per the NPP, an individual who wishes to run for parliament must obtain nomination forms by paying GH˖3,000, which is a non-refundable application fee, using a banker’s draft made payable to the NPP National Headquarters in Accra.
Furthermore, a GH˖35, 000 non-refundable filing fee must be paid by a banker’s draft made payable to the New Patriotic Party National Headquarters in Accra by an aspirant PC.
GH˖17,500 is the non-refundable filing fee for women, youth (those between the ages of 18 and 40), and persons with disabilities (PWDs), according to the statement, which also notes that these groups will receive a 50% discount on filing fees.
When the nomination period ends on Thursday, April 4, all of the candidates hope to be on the ballot.
