Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party has urged the defeated parliamentary candidates to take into account the party’s paramount interest and collaborate closely with the elected candidates.
This he believes will secure a historic third term victory on December 7, for the NPP.
“To those who lost out, I, together with the rank and file of the Party, need your support and contributions to ensure that we win the majority of seats and the presidency in the December 2024 elections.”
“With unity of purpose, we will win in December 2024,” Dr. Bawumia made this known on Saturday.
In order to select parliamentary candidates to run on the party’s ticket in the December parliamentary elections, the NPP held elections on Saturday, January 27, 2024, in constituencies where there are currently sitting Members of Parliament (MP).
Nonetheless, the polls’ unexpected and intriguing conclusion saw more than 20 sitting Members of Parliament lose their seats.
“I urge the unsuccessful aspirants to leave the election behind, consider the supreme interest of the party, and work closely with the elected parliamentary candidates to secure success for the NPP” Vice President Bawumia said.
In light of this, he congratulated everyone who was chosen to run on the Party’s ticket as well as the NPP Election Committee, the Electoral Commission, the security agencies, and the media for their enormous efforts to guarantee a successful and peaceful conclusion.
The following sitting Members of Parliament lost their seats on Saturday: Moses Anim, the MP for Trobu; Joseph Cudjoe, the MP for Effia; Ama Pomaa Boateng, the MP for Juaben; Sheila Bartels, the MP for Ablekuma North; and Freda Prempeh, the MP for Tano North.
